Award Winning Psychological Journal

Dark Rocks

Who We Truly Are

Welcome to the deepest parts of your mind, the one in which you fear to express publicly as you know how expressing yourself this way can cast a dark shadow over the rest of your mind. We are writers who have come to express the topics other writers may find to be taboo.

The Newest Reveal

 (The Porch 2024)

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live with the trauma of losing a loved one you can't let go of? Can it psychologically feel as if they are still there in the flesh reminding you of the trauma you had to endure from such a young age? It may feel as if you can not tell reality from your own imagination and as if those you love are coming to haunt your psyche and torment you for all eternity. In this spectacular piece from Veronica Cruz, learn all about how as human beings we have the inability to run from our past — and how the only way to avoid living in a cycle of misery is to accept reality and face the horrors of life head on. Will you be mentally broken or will you learn to accept the misery that your own psyche can bring?

Order This Truly Encapsulating Piece Now Through:

Dear writers,

This mission statement is to discuss our new magazine, The Great Dark Underworld, and the type of literature that encapsulates our journal/magazine. We will be showcasing fictional literature that can vary from science fiction all the way to regular fictional texts. We are looking to highlight the importance that all forms of fiction to deliver to an audience and show how fictional articles can be just as important as non-fiction articles. We want to promote the idea that you can convey important themes and deep emotional messages in terms of fictional texts. Our new publication will primarily consist of articles that encapsulate deep psychological themes and can convey messages that will leave our audience with a feeling of deep thought and leave them wanting to reread our stories to understand the truth behind the deep and dark messages we are trying to convey. The brain is a powerful tool that should be seen as not simply a part of the human body but one that also wrestles with and exhibits taboo topics. We are looking to build a community of writers who understand the difficulties and mysteries that the human mind brings — along with the intrigue created by complex emotions, such as depression and other extreme mental states, that few other publications tend to express as commonly and powerfully as we will. We will be working in groups or independently, depending on how effective we feel it will make each story. We will also make sure that we understand the image that writers are trying to convey in their stories, and help them achieve this. Our resources will consist of writers who may feel like outcasts and topics that may seem challenging to write about without deep emotional thought. Our end goal — and our future product — will show how taboo stories and concepts can be more potent to publish than the regular stories typically published by existing magazines.

What We Write, Requirements, And How To Contact Us

The guidelines we will establish for our journal promote the submission of articles that delve more into the taboo rather than what is considered standard literature throughout our current society. We will accept any article whether it is short or long, however, it must follow some basic principles. We will accept submissions in Microsoft Word or PDF files — with a maximum file size of 25 MB — as well as in hard copy. We would also greatly appreciate it if the story you write has been thoroughly edited and is of great personal relevance to the writer. Of course, not all stories need to follow the same strict guidelines, but we personally that like if the story personally relates to the writer, then there will be much more enthusiasm, on the part of our readers, towards the article in question. The Great Dark Underworld will prioritize publishing original submissions, but in certain circumstances we will consider republishing cutting-edge stories that have been published elsewhere and which we believe deserve a broader audience. We personally enjoy being able to incorporate articles that have already been placed within other magazines, as we feel like that could also be another method in which writers who are already a part of the magazine, but don’t feel like they receive any recognition are able to be exposed to another audience. We would want to do this with perhaps one or two articles per issue, as we want to make sure that we are not solely taking articles from writers who submitted to other magazines. Our goal should still be to recruit our own writers, to make sure that there is no advantage over one particular individual, solely based on their previous writing expertise.

Writers can contact us by sending submissions to our email address or by the use of hard copy. We are able to be reached at DarkUnderworld101@gmail.com or by bringing a hard copy to our office at 97 South Court Street, Room 216. Hard copies will be looked at by our boss and will be reviewed as soon as we can. Readers and submitters can also check out our website at WWW.DarkUnderworld.com to see a list of ways in which we can be contacted. Our phone number is provided on our website (929-273-8773) and we are open from 8 in the morning till six at night. Everyone who feels like they have a publication that they would be willing to submit that may not have been accepted by other journals should feel no pressure in contacting us.
